Starting from 2018, the School recruits students according to the material categories, and after a year of basic knowledge learning, they will be then divided into different majors. The School currently has 3 undergraduate majors, which are Material Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Forming and Control Engineering.


Material Science and Engineering

The Material Science and Engineering major is a national first-class undergraduate major and a pilot major of the Ministry of Education's outstanding engineer education and training program. In 2018, it passed the China Engineering Education Professional Certification. Students of this major mainly study and master all-round basic theory and professional knowledge covering material composition/structure, preparation/synthesis, testing/characterization, performance/application, accept the whole process of scientific research and engineering practice training, and cultivate students with solid basic knowledge, excellent engineering practice ability, excellent humanistic and scientific literacy, innovative spirit and international vision, be able to engage in scientific research, engineering application, technology development and production and operation management in the fields of metal materials and heat treatment, light alloy engineering, material processing, building materials and other fields, and shapes students as high-quality compound talents for enterprise management.


Metallurgical Engineering

The Metallurgical Engineering major has a rich history and is in the forefront of similar universities in China. It is a national first-class undergraduate major, a pilot major of the Ministry of Education’s outstanding engineer education and training program, a first-class undergraduate major in Chongqing, and a characteristic major in Chongqing’s “Three Special Action Plan”, and passed in 2018 China Engineering Education Professional Certification. This major is based on the extraction, quality improvement and continuous casting of metal elements, strengthens the concept of intelligence, green, high efficiency, low consumption and high-end, highlights the intersection of metallurgy and resources, environment, materials, big data and other disciplines, and cultivates students to master the basic theory and professional knowledge in the field of advanced engineering, penetrate the whole chain of knowledge system, have the ability to solve complex engineering problems in modern metallurgy, and be able to face the new economic normal, face the future, and face the world, and eventually shape students as high-quality compound talents in engineering design, technological innovation and enterprise management.


Material Forming and Control Engineering

Material Forming and Control Engineering is an interdisciplinary major involving materials science and mechanical engineering. It is a first-class undergraduate major in Chongqing. This major mainly focuses on the principles, processes and equipment, production automation and intelligence of engineering material forming. Through systematic study and research on "Modern Liquid Forming Engineering", "Intelligent Plastic Forming and Mold Technology", "Advanced Connection Technology", " Electronic packaging", "3D printing molding", "material molding CAD/CAE/CAM", "material molding testing and control technology", "polymer material molding", etc, students will be cultivated to be high-quality compound talents with good humanities literacy and international vision, capable of sustainable development, and capable of engaging in scientific research, technology research and development, engineering design, quality control and enterprise management in material forming and related fields or industries.
