On the afternoon of December 2, 2021, the meeting for 2020 outstanding students of College  of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing University was held in D1427, Huxi Campus. The meeting was presided over by Zejun Chen, deputy dean, Daxing Li, tutor and instructor of class 2020 excellent students, and Niu Ma, teacher from Academic Affairs Office of School attended the meeting.

Zejun Chen first introduced the relevant situation of outstanding students in the School, and elaborated five aspects of policy of outstanding students in the School, collective situation of previous outstanding students, personal style of former outstanding students, tutor situation of outstanding students and self-positioning and development of outstanding students. He pointed out that the personnel training goal of undergraduate courses in Chongqing University was to cultivate high-quality innovative talents who can adapt to and lead the future, therefore, the School attached great importance to the cultivation of excellent students. At the same time, supervisors with strong sense of responsibility and cutting-edge scientific research direction had been arranged for all outstanding students, and hopefully all the outstanding students could actively seek guidance from the supervisor and give full play to their subjective initiative. Zejun Chen also stressed that outstanding students should define themselves and work hard. They should not only finish their studies with high quality, but also take full advantage of their spare time to participate in scientific research training actively. In the end, Zejun Chen gave the sentence "Excellent students, excellent life" to all the excellent students present. He hoped that the students could comprehensively improve their abilities during the four-year undergraduate study and the three-year cultivation process of excellent students, and grow into excellent talents who can shoulder the great responsibility of national rejuvenation.

With the theme of How to Plan The Course Learning and Scientific Research Innovation at the University level--Experience and Inspiration of guiding outstanding students, starting from two sections of Experience of guiding outstanding students and Instructing National Innovation Program and Planning of Learning and Scientific Research for Outstanding Students, Guang Han, representative of supervisors for outstanding students, shared his experience and inspiration of guiding outstanding students with participating teachers and students. He said that cultivating students requires warmth, and helping students understand the fun of scientific research could gradually deepen the relationship between teachers and students. Han shared the story of leading students to do scientific research, and witnessed their growth from not knowing how to use experimental instruments to operate proficiently, and finally completing National Innovation Projects and publishing SCI papers. He believed that cultivating students should inspire students in their thinking and ‘teach them how to fish’ through trial and exploration.

Menghan Wu, one of the representatives of the 2018 outstanding students and a student majoring in materials processing engineering, shared her experience in learning, scientific research and research protection with the 2020 outstanding students. She firstly introduced her own learning methods systematically, and called on the students to pay attention to course study to lay a solid foundation for the future. Then she shared her experience in the research of insurance, and pointed out that the research of insurance is not only an information war, but also a clear position and emphasis on the improvement of English ability. After three years of unremitting efforts, she has now been deferred to Tsinghua University. She hopes that all outstanding students can achieve satisfactory results in two years. Finally,Menghan  Wu put forward the expectation of "happy study and happy life" for the 2020 outstanding students.

In the end, each outstanding student tutor communicated with the students they guided, took this opportunity to deepen the mutual understanding between teachers and students, enhanced the friendship between teachers and students, and promoted the smooth development of follow-up guidance work. After the meeting, all the participants took a group photo.

Through this meeting, the outstanding students of the class of 2020 had a further understanding of the policy of outstanding students. Hopefully all the outstanding students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of class 2020 can make full use of the platform of excellent students' training to comprehensively improve their comprehensive quality, become high-level, all-round and diversely developed talents, and achieve all-round excellence in a true sense.
