Introduction about the Distinguished Alumnae Mrs.Zhang Baolan

Mrs. Zhang Baolan, Han nationality, was born in Nanxiong City, Guangdong Province in January 1965. She is a professor-level senior engineer. She is the deputy director of Building Materials Institute of Fourth Engineering Research Institute of CCCC, and the director of Nansha Laboratory of CCCC. She graduated from Building Materials College of Chongqing University.

In 1965, Zhang Baolan was born in a mining family in Baishun Town, Nanxiong City.

In 1983, Zhang Baolan was admitted to the Department of Building Materials of Chongqing University. In 1987, after graduating from the Department of Building Materials of Chongqing University, Zhang Baolan has been engaged in the research of high performance concrete for marine engineering in the Fourth Research Institute of CCCC.

On April 29, 2011, Zhang Baolan was dispatched to the Project of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to participate in the construction project of the sunken tube concrete laboratory.

From May 2011 to 2017, she served as the director of laboratory of sunken tube prefabrication plant for the island tunnel project of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and at the same time she also served as director of Fourth Engineering Research Institute of CCCC.

She is mainly engaged in the durability of concrete materials used on ports, docks, roads and bridges, and in the subject research of special concrete performance, the research and development of new materials, popularization and application, and the special performance test and test of concrete materials, etc.

She has been responsible for and participated in more than 10 scientific research projects, and has won 7 scientific and technological progress awards successively, among which 1 first-class prize, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 1 third prize. She has 6 scientific papers published in Chinese core  journals. She has a long-term participation in the maintenance of Zhanjiang exposure test station, data collection, testing and analysis. She has participated in and served as the sub-topic of the project "Research on the Preparation Technology of High performance Concrete Against Salt Pollution". She was in charge of the sub-topic research of underwater concrete materials & durability. She participated in the preparation, compilation and formulation of China's first "Underwater concrete design and construction guide" .

In May 2011, she was assigned to be in charge in the concrete laboratory of the pipe sinking prefabrication plant for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on Niutou Island. In the proportion of concrete, Mrs.Zhang Baolan led the team to repeatedly proportion more than 100 tons of concrete, and finally worked out a "super formula" to improve the crack resistance of concrete.

In 2004, as the person in charge of the sub-topic for the project "Research on the Preparation of Complete Sets of High Performance Concrete against Salt Pollution", which won the second prize of China Navigation Society. In 2005, the project "Complete construction technology of large rock-socketed steel pipe pile wharf" won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of China Communications Group. In 2006, as the special person in charge, the completed project "Research on Underwater Concrete Materials and Durability" won the second prize of Science and Technology Award of China Highway Society. In 2008, the project "Technical Specification for Anti-corrosion of Concrete Structures in Harbour Works" won the second prize of China Port Association.

She has won the Guangdong May 1st Women's Medal, Guangdong May 1st Labor Medal, Model of South Guangdong, "Hero of Construction" and other honorable titles. She is known as the "Iron Lady" on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the representative of the construction group of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.Mrs. Zhang Baolan challenged world-class problems and worked hard for 7 years on Niutou Island, solved one key problem after another in the construction of the bridge, worked a miracle of a million cubic meters of concrete without cracks, and made great contributions to the completion of the island tunnel project, the core project of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
