Regulations on the Work of Class Teachers in the School of Materials Science and Engineering (Trial implementation)

Class advisers are an important part of the ideological education and daily management of students. In order to strengthen the management of class teachers' work and give full play to the role of class teachers in student work, these regulations are hereby formulated.

I. Selection of class teachers. According to the relevant regulations of the university and the college, the class teachers of our undergraduate students shall be selected from among the postgraduate students in our college. In principle, there shall be one class teacher for every two administrative classes of undergraduate students, and they are selected once every academic year.

The basic requirements for class teachers are:

1. Postgraduate students in the College.

2. Members of the Chinese Communist Party.

3. Have the enthusiasm and certain working ability to engage in class teacher work, and have a cheerful personality.

4. Be able to guarantee the necessary working hours.

5. Comply with professional ethics.

II. Working hours of class teachers. Class teachers are expected to meet with students in their classes at least once every two weeks and attend ad hoc student work as the request of the College Student Office and the tutors when necessary.

III. The relationship between the work of the class teacher and that of the counsellor. The counsellor is the main teacher and the class teacher is the assistant.

1. The counsellor should keep the class teacher informed of the general arrangements and requirements of recent student work, of changes in students' thinking, and of reasonable arrangements for the work of the class teacher and work requirements.

2. The class teacher should maintain contact with the counsellor regularly and complete tasks in time and with quality and quantity according to the counsellor's requirements. The problems found in the work should be agreed with the counsellor in time, put forward work suggestions and be a good assistant to the counsellor.

3. Assist counsellor to understand the situation of students' mindsets, problems and ideological trends that arise among students, and cooperate with the counsellor to carry out targeted work.

4. Strengthen the extensive contact with students and use their professional knowledge to help guide students to solve the problems they encounter in their studies.

IV. Assessment of the work of class teachers. The assessment of the work of class teachers is mainly based on the counsellors and is conducted once a semester.

The counsellor should form an assessment opinion based on the work of the class teacher in the semester and evaluate the work of the class teacher based on facts. The assessment opinion will be reviewed by the Student Office as the conclusion of the work assessment of the class teacher. Those who are not suitable to be class teachers should be replaced in time. Failures and accidents caused by the inadequate work of class teachers should be investigated.
