Regulations on the Work of Student Class Adviser in Chongqing University

Article 1 In order to implement the spirit of the relevant documents such as “Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Further Strengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Education of College Students” and the “Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Strengthening the Construction of Counselor Class adviser Team in Higher Education Schools”, to give full play to the role of class advisers in student education and teaching management, and to improve the quality of talent training and the level of student management, these special regulations are hereby formulated.

Article 2 The class adviser is an important part of the student education management team. The implementation of the management methods and evaluation system for the work of the class adviser can effectively play the role in educating people and help cultivate qualified talents for socialist construction.

Article 3 The work of the class adviser is under the leadership of the university's supervisor, guided and managed by the relevant functional departments, while each college is specifically responsible for the daily management, education and assessment of the class adviser.

Chapter 2 Class teacher's responsibilities

Article 4 Be responsible for the specific guidance and management of students' study and life, and work under the leadership of the college's deputy secretary in charge of student affairs.

Article 5 Assist counselors in students' ideological and moral education, situation and policy education and mental health education. Guide students to seriously study Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents", cultivate good behavior habits and hard work, honesty and trustworthiness, cultivate students' healthy, positive, upward psychological quality, and enables students to establish a correct world view, outlook on life

Article 6 Strengthen the education of students' compliance and safety precautions. Educate students to strictly abide by laws and regulations and the rules and regulations of the university, guide students to abide by social ethics and the college student code of conduct, help students to establish safety awareness, and timely deal with and educate students who violate discipline.

Article 7 Instruct students to understand the learning rules in university, develop good study habits, and help students develop the ability to actively acquire knowledge and master skills.

Article 8 Strengthen the construction of class spiritual civilization and class atmosphere and study style. The ideological education work should run through all aspects of students' study and life, guide them to establish lofty ideals, enhance their collective sense of honor and responsibility, educates them to correct their learning attitudes, clarify their learning objectives, improve their learning methods, and establish a good class atmosphere and study style.

Article 9 Establish and improve the class management system and strengthen the construction of class organization. Establish systems for class study, scholarship evaluation, party membership, comprehensive evaluation, standardized language and writing, and hygiene appraisal to guide class committees and youth league branches in their work.

Article 10 Go deep into students' reality and strengthen student class management. Frequently check the attendance of students in class, strengthen contact with counselors and class advisers, understand the situation of teaching and learning, do a good job in the communication between class advisers and students, and timely reflect students' opinions or suggestions on teaching to teachers.

Article 11 Hold thematic class meetings at least two every month, and have a heart- to-heart conversation with each student every semester. Timely convey the spirit of the university's relevant documents to students, organize students to carry out various "striving to be the first to create excellence" activities, grasp the actual situation of students' learning, thinking, and life, with specific targets.

Article 12 Strengthen the management of students in the dormitory. Go to the student dormitory frequently, urge students to work and rest on time, strictly abide by the dormitory management regulations, do a good job in dormitory hygiene, and create a good learning atmosphere.

Article 13 Discover and develop students' specialties, fully understand students' learning situation. Assist students in formulating personal learning plans based on students' interests, hobbies, specialties and employment intentions, student-oriented. Guide students to select courses, study for second degrees, apply for postgraduate examinations, and carry out extracurricular activities, so as to help students establish a correct outlook on career selection and employment.

Article 14 Care for students' life. Guide and help students to participate in work-study activities. Help economically poor students to overcome difficulties, apply for student loans and solve practical problems.

Article 15 Strengthen the communication and contact with parents of students, and jointly work in training students. At the end of each academic year, parents of students will be notified in writing of students' academic achievements, actual performance, etc., so as to do a good job in education and management of students.

Chapter 3 Establishment and appointment of class advisers

Article 16 In order to strengthen the daily management of classes, each college shall provide a class adviser for each class in accordance with the regulations.

Article 17 The class advisers shall be selected and employed by each college in accordance with the conditions through the combination of organization recommendation and open recruitment. In principle, they shall be selected from teachers and political cadres with good comprehensive quality, high professional level and strong dedication. They can also be selected from outstanding postgraduates.

Article 18 Young and middle-aged teachers are the main force of the work team of class adviser. Thus young and middle-aged teachers are encouraged to participate in student management besides teaching.

Article 19 The basic requirements of class advisers are as follows: high political and ideological awareness, excellent professional skills, right style, strict discipline, ability to set an example and serve as a teacher; love student work, have a strong sense of responsibility and dedication; have a certain level of political theory and policy; have a professional background in relevant disciplines and strong organizational and management skills.

Chapter 4 Work Assessment of Class Advisers

Article 20 The college shall report the list of selected class advisers and their classes to the university for record every academic year, improve the assessment system and establish the work files of class advisers according to the regulations of class advisers.

Article 21 The college shall hold class adviser work meeting once a month to listen to the class adviser's work report, exchange information, survey the work and assign tasks.

Article 22 The college is responsible for assess the work of class advisers once a semester, and organizing class advisers to fill in the " Work Assessment Form for Class adviser of Chongqing University". The assessment is mainly carried out based on the class adviser's work attitude, ability, achievement and students' evaluation. The results are divided into three grades: excellent, qualified and unqualified.

Chapter 5 Rewards and punishments of Class adviser

Article 23 An allowance shall be paid to class adviser who has completed his/her work tasks. The allowance is paid on a basis of 10 months per academic year.

Article 24 The university will give recommend and reward to class advisers who are excellent in work assessment. The rewards are one of the important bases for their future title (position) appointment and promotion; for those who are irresponsible and do not fulfill their duties, the university will criticize and educate them. They will even be dismissed if there is still no improvement later.

Article 25 This regulation shall be implemented from the date of issue. Each college may formulate further detailed implementation rules according to its actual situation.
