Published:2021-11-18

Professor Jiaping Liu is a 1986 undergraduate majoring in building materials and products from Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering (i.e., Department of Building Materials, School of Materials, Chongqing University). He graduated in 1990 with a doctorate in engineering. He used to be the vice president of Jiangsu Academy of Construction Sciences, the chairman of Subote New Materials Co., Ltd., and the current director of the State Key Laboratory of High-performance Civil Engineering Materials and a professor of Southeast University. He won the National Labor Medal.

Professor Liu is deeply attached to his alma mater and has established the "Subote" scholarship. He has been a postgraduate lecturer, doctoral and postgraduate tutor in our school for a long time.

Professor Liu has long been devoted to the in-depth research in the fields of "shrinkage crack control" and "ultra-high performance". He has further enriched the modern concrete shrinkage crack control theoretical system by combining concrete structure and construction factors, and invented a series of functional materials in civil engineering. He created three key technology groups of shrinkage and crack resistance, mechanical performance improvement and rheological performance control, which have been successfully applied to more than 110 major projects such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Taihu Lake Tunnel. As the first inventor, he has more than 90 authorized invention patents, 14 international patents, 1 Chinese patent silver award, 5 excellence awards; 11 software copyrights; published more than 200 SCI/EI papers and 1 monograph Department, chief/participant in compiling 22 standards or regulations; the achievements have won 1 second-class National Technology Invention Award and 4 second-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards.
